Let your Light shine in the dark by @NNP_W_Light

“May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

When your life is plunged into darkness, do you let your Light shine or do you cower in the dark?

One of my all-time favorite books is The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien. In it, the path Frodo must take is filled with uncertainty and he's unsure what to do. Without warning, he's surrounded by darkness. But he has a secret weapon, a light to shine bright in the murky depths.

We're a lot like Frodo. Without warning, the floor beneath our feet drops out and we're sitting in the dark, not able to see three feet in front of our face. What to do, what to do?

Each of us has a light that will combat the darkness. Some may call it faith while others call it hope. I call it Light. It has the ability to guide us through the dark even if we can't see where we're going. Hold tight to the Light and when needed, let it surround you while lighting the path you need to walk.

Frodo used his light and succeeded in his mission. You have the same ability inside you. Stop cowering and start shining!

  1. Thank you for the reminder--and it's true. In the darkest point of our lives, there is a light. Sometimes it just takes a bit for us to find it.

  2. You're so welcome, Barbara. Sometimes it's even someone else's Light which helps us find our way out of the dark. :)

  3. I have to share... I was talking to my sister yesterday(it was her big birthday) and she was in a dark place. She has been since her divorce which is still ongoing. She kept looking back to all her mistakes and saying she was in this dark place. While I was about to tell her, "Stop! Look forward," this falcon swooped in and sat on my fence. It looked back at me and the flew straight forward! As I told my sis this, we both gasped and she saw the "Light" and started laughing. Your message was perfect! I'll have to share your blog with her. Thank you!

    1. Wow, what a great experience. A falcon, such a beautiful animal. Thank you for sharing and I hope your sister steps forward into the light. Life takes us places we didn't expect. It may seem like the depths of despair for her right now but it'll get better. The Universe has big plans for her.
